Trails and Public Access

Bond Brook Recreation Area

The Bond Brook Recreation Area is a 17 mile trail system for hikers, mountain bikers, Nordic skiers, snowshoers, bird-watchers and trail runners on 268 acres of city owned land right in the heart of Augusta, stretching from Bond Brook to the airport.  It is free and open to the public.

Current access is through the back of Mount Hope Cemetery on Winthrop Street, or adjacent to the Public Works Facility on North Street.  We’re building an access road on Bond Brook Road, on your left just after you turn from Civic Center Drive.

Trail update:

The severely eroded old logging road from the Bond Brook bridge to the ski and bike trails will be closed as part of an Eagle Scout project to begin restoring this area. Access to the main trail area from the BB bridge can be done by following the logged path of the new road to the airport access road.
